Our Committee has made a joint decision and unfortunately we will not be running our annual “Reel Fishing Comp" this year in it’s usual format for a number of reasons. This year we will be running a one base “Marlin Hunt” competition in conjunction with the Nationals from Saturday 20th February to Saturday 27th February. The cost to enter is $60 per angler. This enters you into the Nationals ($25) and also in the Marlin Hunt.
In the Nationals you can weigh all the species they cater for but our comp is for Marlin only. You can find the Nationals rules on the New Zealand Sport Fishing Council website.
The prize pool for the Marlin Hunt will be whatever funds we generate from entries. This will be split 50/50 between the Heaviest Marlin weighed and the angler with the most Tag and Release marlin. If there is more than one winner in the tag section the prize will be decided by way of a draw of those eligible. To claim a Tagged fish you must provide a photo of the fish along with proof of the date and time of capture and the tag card. Being a One Base all vessels must depart from and return to the Hokianga.
There will be lucky draws on Wednesday 24th Feb and Saturday 27th Feb at The Heads (formerly the Copthorne) commencing at 7pm. On Saturday there will also be a $300 lucky angler draw. You must be there to claim a lucky draw prize.
Please find the attached entry form and let’s hope the weather proves favourable.
